BOYLE HANDED TRIPLE PLATINUM HONOUR

SUSAN BOYLE was surprised with an early Christmas gift on U.K. TV as she received a platinum record for her history-making album sales.

The Scottish spinster skyrocketed to fame after appearing on Britain's Got Talent earlier this year (09) and fans around the world have since proved their love for the 48 year old by snapping up thousands of copies of her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream.

The record-breaking disc has sold more than five million worldwide since its release in November (09), topping the charts in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the U.S. and the U.K.

Her life-changing year was capped off in style as she was handed a triple platinum record during her own TV special, I Dreamed A Dream: The Susan Boyle Story, prompting her to break down in tears as she clutched the prestigious prize.

Journalist Piers Morgan, a judge on Britain's Got Talent, told Boyle, "To celebrate you, we'd like to give you a little treat, a little surprise. In recognition of your astonishing achievement in selling over one million records, here is the triple platinum record.

"Very few artists in history have done this. Susan Boyle, you dreamed a dream - this is your dream come true!"

Susan Boyle’s brother says not enough is being done to protect the star- and admits he is worried she could be killed if security isn’t stepped up.

John Boyle spoke out after the Britain’s Got Talent star confronted an intruder in her council house in Blackburn, West Lothian on Tuesday night.

The 48 year-old spinster’s shock encounter happened after she had flown back to Scotland from London where she had been recording vocals for Simon Cowell’s all -star Haiti earthquake charity single, Everybody Hurts.

John, 59 also blasted record bosses who he claimed were too busy counting cash to worry about his sister’s security.

The prowler incident is the second scare surrounding Susan Boyle after police were called following an attempted break in at her home in December.

John told a newspaper: "I am very upset about the lack of security. Her management company are too busy counting the money Susan has made them to consider her safety.

"The family have told them several times that vast improvements need to be made to avoid something like this happening. This is the second time something has happened to Susan at her home and it is extremely worrying.

"Susan is a massive world star and needs better protection. You look at what happened to John Lennon in New York - it's really worrying."

The 'I Dreamed A Dream' singer - whose property in West Lothian, Scotland, was broken into by a fan in January - has reportedly agreed to look for a home in the UK capital after being persuaded by executives at her record label, Simon Cowell's SyCo, that she would be safer there.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "She has now agreed to move to a place in the city, where she'll stay when busy working. During promotion commitments, it is thought she will stay for weeks at a time.

"The flat will be cat-friendly, so she can take Pebbles too. To see her in a secure location will ease a lot of minds."
