Kate Silverton's terror on slopes of death: BBC star forced to abandon Ben Nevis climb after 'scary' blizzard and thigh-deep snow

The 39-year-old, who was scaling Ben Nevis on Friday as part of a Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Sport Relief, described how fighting through blizzard-like conditions and thigh-deep snow on the 4,409ft mountain was among the ‘scariest things I have ever done’.

The sudden storm, which had not been forecast before Kate’s team set out, left the presenter and her team in a ‘total whiteout’.

Cheryl Cole spoof bags dance title

Comedian Rufus Hound has walked away with the Let's Dance For Sport Relief title after performing an entertaining spoof of Cheryl Cole's number one Fight For This Love.

Hound's parody of the Girls Aloud singer's hit, complete with harem pants, lipstick and military attired backing dancers, attracted the biggest number of votes from viewers of the BBC One show.

Sport Relief 2010
BBC1, Friday 19 March 7:00pm - 10:00pm

We've reached the sparkling climax of Sport Relief and it should make for a heck of a night. You get the feeling someone behind the scenes had an enjoyable game of TV consequences, tearing celebs from their comfort zones and planting them where you'd least expect. "How about Match of the Day does Masterchef?" they cried. So Gary Lineker, Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrenson try their hands at competitive cooking. "How about Dragons' Den does Strictly?" Yes, Duncan Bannatyne and Peter Jones take to the dancefloor. "How about The Choir's Gareth Malone gets a bunch of sporting heroes to sing together? How about Ashes to Ashes starring Michael Parkinson?" And so on. In among the surreal skits will be updates on the sporting challenges taken up by celebs, from Christine Bleakley waterskiing the channel to Eddie Izzard's staggering 43 marathons in 51 days. And of course some powerfully moving appeal films will be aired to remind us of the point of the whole thing - to dig deep and see if we can collectively put the funds raised well over the 20 million pounds mark.

Cheryl Cole thrilled by Rufus spoof

Cheryl Cole has congratulated comic Rufus Hound on his fundraising spoof of her Fight For This Love dance routine.
Cole told the bearded funnyman "it's like looking in a mirror" after he performed the routine on Friday's Sport Relief show on BBC1.

Hound, who won this year's Let's Dance for Sport Relief with his impersonation of Cole, copied her military-themed outfit complete with trousers split at the side which showed off his legs.

Cole joked: "You have put so much work into it you have even split your trousers."
