:-( :-( :-( :-( Four goals, it could have been six or seven the way the Germans were playing. :8o:
Any, to listen to the football pundits talk you would think the had been part of a World Cup winning side.
The German side was the better side on the day and deserved the win, nuff said.

German press mourns bitter loss

"It's finished. It's over. We're out," cried Germany's most-read paper, Bild, as the country descended into collective mourning following the 1-0 defeat to Spain that ended their World Cup dream.

"The whole of Germany is now upset and tears are flowing up and down the country," the paper said, adding, with unusual fairness: "No matter how tough it may be to accept, the defeat was deserved."

"Our guys tried everything. But unfortunately, we just didn't get the right chances. These Spanish, we have to admit, were simply too good for us."

"1-0. Germany weeps. Spain go though," wrote the regional Hamburger Abendblatt.

The more reserved Frankfurter Allgemeine said that Germany's "dream journey" had ended and Spiegel magazine said on its website "Spain destroys Germany's dreams of reaching a final."

SPANISH ARMADA CAPTURES WORLD

JOHANNESBURG: Spain won the World Cup for the first time on Sunday, Andres Iniesta netting in extra-time to see off Holland 1-0 in Johannesburg and hand the Dutch their third final loss.

With just four minutes of extra-time remaining, substitute Fernando Torres slid over a cross from the left which was partially cleared as far as Cesc Fabregas and his pass found Iniesta lurking
in the area.

The Barcelona star promptly set his sights and fired past Dutch keeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

Five minutes earlier, the Dutch were down to 10 men when referee Howard Webb red-carded John Heitinga for a foul on Iniesta.
