Probably nobody is interested, but just thought I would show you some of my bird photos, as this is a new hobby of mine. They were all taken from behind glass and at a distance.

Very good. The pigeon having a bath is really good with the water capured in motion.

Thank you. Yes, I was pleased with the wood pigeon one how that turned out. More by luck than judgement I think!

We had a racing pigeon land in the garden today. It came back twice for food, so I don't know if it will come again tomorrow. It had a ring round each foot, but I wouldn't know how to handle it to find out who it belongs to! The other birds seemed a bit frightened of it initially.

We also had a poorly looking collared dove. I went right up to it and it didn't fly away (it wasn't a baby one either). It just sat on the ground all day, but did eventually fly away. I was going to put a container of water and food near it, but it flew away just before I went outside. I discovered later that it was a female one, as another dove started to bow to it, so I wonder if she was about to lay eggs and had a bit of pain. She didn't look injured at all, but she looked very sleepy and at one point, opened her beak wide, like she may have been crying out in pain.

Thanks Madeline. That reminds me of this photo I took at the beginning of May - something I would have preferred not to have seen! The starling which was caught was an adult feeding it's young unfortunately.

Saw a mid-air battle this afternoon between a Sparrowhawk (?) and a Rook.
This time I've noticed something bigger in the air than the Rooks. Not a lot bigger but still must have more than 6 inches bigger wingspan.

Lost sight of the battle before I could get my phone into camera mode.

Both birds were going for each other. First one then the other. The noise was what alerted me to something going on.

Maybe the sparrowhawk was going after their babies?

The other day, a carrion crow was making an almighty noise and it was circling round and round in the air, then I saw a magpie fly away, so I reckon the magpie had been after the crow's eggs or babies. The crow sounded very angry and upset.

That is lovely. Here is my robin picture taken in January of this year. It used to come every day regularly into the garden and explored all the different food I put out, but one day, a big black cat came into the garden and it stopped coming. :-(
