semi interesting news regarding daylight saving time
apologies for any anti-Daily Mail FM's, just stumbled across this

I hardly think that people are staying away from Britain because it gets dark at 4pm in November
That would be interesting. It is a valid point about children walking to school, in winter it is really just light from about 8ish til half 3ish here as it is without them mucking it about.
They experimented with this when I was at Primary School, and we were all given armbands to wear for walking to school. High visibility vests are now very cheap to buy, and they really stand out in the dark. In Donegal, where there are many windy country roads without footpaths, most people who go out walking wear them, and they are probably more visible to drivers than walkers with no such safety aids walking in day time.
I would rather have more daylight in the evening, to be honest. I hate it when the clock goes back. And I hate it even more when it has to go forward again!!! It messes with my body clock, for starters, lol.
As you say, most kids get driven to school in any case, and I think that when they are walking on pavements they are usually quite safe.
