Maybe for good too

BBonline

Quote:
For an insider told Big Brother Online this morning: "Sadly for fans of the show, talks between Endemol and Five have come to nothing".

It is thought that the two parties were unable to agree financial terms, with the broadcaster hoping to licence the show – viewing figures for-which have been in decline for some time – for a lot less money than the programme-maker was able to accept.

Channel 5's new owner, mega-rich media mogul Richard Desmond, initially expressed an interest in licensing the show when he bought Five for £103.5 million in July 2010. However, all the subsequent talk about the likelihood of the Daily Star owner agreeing to a quick deal, has been pure speculation.

Over the years, Big Brother has been accused of being too dull, too controversial, too long, not strict enough or not fun enough. It has also faced criticism more recently for the wannabe/ freakish contestants, the lack of live streaming, the rubbish tasks, for not providing contestants with enough booze, for the entity being too soft on the housemates and the producers not giving fans what they want.

Fans were looking forward to a rejuvenated format on Channel 5 next year, although frankly it doesn't look like Desmond, who could clearly afford the show if he really wanted/ valued it, is going to pop out-of a cake at tonight's Finale and declare himself the saviour of Big Brother.

That said, even though Channel 4 have given the show a funeral and written R.I.P Big Brother on a fake tombstone, fans should never say never.

We say that because although Endemol has declined to comment, a spokesperson for Mr. Desmond told us today: "Right from the start, when he took over Five, Richard Desmond made it clear that Big Brother was on his shopping list".

"I cannot deny or confirm that talks between the relevant parties have ended, so it remains a case of 'wait and see'."

Yep.. been on DS and seen the threads

Even if five had taken it on, it would be robot wars all over again, killed off within a year as the fans couldnt hack the 5 min long advert breaks.

No its good that its ending on a high ... but it is a concorde moment, TV is going backwards reality wise from here on. It will be all american style where they do something for a min then spend 2 hours explaining what they did in an interview.

Forever is a long time. I'd guess it'll come back in some form..if there are peeps still around in the next few decades.
-

They should just set up a channel, and replay the whole thing from day'1.
-

Calrissian: never did see series'1 !

I will mostly miss BBFans (well not the ones I have on fb obviously) lost interest this week cos had a lot on but it seems odd to think we face summers without each other, and it's never gonna happen again!!!! It's like leaving school all over again...

*nods* have been reminiscing with Heidi on FB about some of the laughs we've had on here especially during the early years!

At the beginning of this series I went back over all the old stuff... Some of it is hilarious, remember Norris Denton ::lol::

I don't think I want to look back at old posts but it is funny thinking back - I have been a member of BBFans for a whole third of my life I just realised from looking at the date  School, exams, uni, "proper job" - bizarre. Hope people still make time to come on here, I know I haven't been on as much in recent years but it is really nice catching up with everyone.

Had lots of fun times on here (and good times with people from here in the "real world"!). Good memories. All the best to everyone x x

Although you were quite young when you first joined here Jezi, you always seemed mature for your age and very sensible.

Oh yes I remember Norris Denton Obo.

If I need a reminder I have series 1 - 7 shows stored on a hard drive and CBB 1- 5 plus UBB.

Still trying to get BB2 from Day23 but have made a request in a newsgroup so may someone might had the missing shows.

Last night I realised that I had the BB Diaries from BB4 that I'd never watched before. And have to say they are interesting.

It's been fun over the years here. This was a good place to be when other forums were unpleasant when the comments were very unkind when the Videos were show prior to BB4 and they played mine constantly.

So thanks for your hard work keeping the forum up and running.

And as has already been said there are plenty of other reality shows to cover plus BB is still running in other places around the world.

I have been checking in a few times everyday for years whether BB was running or whether I was following it or not.
