Living Orkney, edited by former Scottish Borders Council convener and Southern Reporter Chief Reporter John Ross Scott, has been shortlisted for a Scottish ‘Magazine of the Year’ Award.
The magazine, which was first published by the Orkney Media Group in 2005, will be competing against East Lothian Life, Fusion Flowers, Scottish Island Explorer, Scotland Outdoors and The Banter in the ‘Best small publishing company’category.
Living Orkney specialises in character profile of Orkney folk, in depth issues and events on the islands and, on the quirker front, a monthly column written by John listing the views of the pensioners that frequent the ‘Owld Men’s Hut’ on Kirkwall Pier. Among its contributors are
Big Brother winner Cameron Stout, former ‘Herald’ journalist Jim Hewitson and author Duncan McLean.
