Dancing on Ice

6:30pm - 8:30pm, Sunday 09 January ITV1 London 1/12, series 6

No sooner has one set of celebs decamped from the jungle or hung up their dancing shoes, than a new lot launch themselves into another of those televised journeys they hope will raise their profile rather than dent their ego (or, in this case, bruise their bottom). This year's line-up of young(ish) blades skids wildly from familiar to "who on earth?" The names of Angela Rippon, Nadia Sawalha and Vanilla Ice are well known; Sam Attwater, David Vitty and Laura Hamilton less so. However, all eyes will be on Kerry Katona who, of course, has been skating on thin ice for many years now. The series starts with two special shows in which the 16 skaters fight for 12 places (eight take part this week, eight next week). This year the ice panel comprises Robin Cousins, Emma Bunton and Jason Gardiner, with Karen Barber becoming head coach and mouthpiece for contestants when the judges step over the line with a chilling comment. Which they often do.

Dancing on Ice: The Skate Off

9:30pm - 10:15pm, Sunday 09 January ITV1 London

The first eight celebrities have done all they can to show viewers that they deserve a place in the main competition, and now the three who gained the least support have to skate again. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby then reveal who has made it through - and which two have fallen at the first hurdle.

Is Christine Bleakley set to to heat up Dancing On Ice as replacement for Holly Willoughby?

Christine Bleakley is being lined up to replace mother-to-be Holly Willoughby on the Dancing On Ice results show as she seeks to boost her career.

Bleakley has struggled to make an impression on the troubled Daybreak show with Adrian Chiles since her defection to ITV from BBC in a £6million deal last year.

According to TV insiders Bleakley, 31, will take over from Willoughby, 29, presenting the second half of the Sunday night show when Willoughby reduces her workload in line with her pregnancy

Dancing On Ice Voting Twist

The stars of Dancing on Ice will be forced to turn on each other this weekend in a new voting twist, revealed by ITV.

There will be a skate-off as normal between the two couples with the lowest scores After they have skated, the cameras will then return to the celebrities and each celebrity will have to pick one of the two bottom two to be axed and give their reason why..

Judge Robin Cousins announced the change yesterday and according tio a newspaper report Kerry Katona, 30, and Denise Welch, 52, initially said they would refuse to take part in the voting.

Meanwhile, Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles upset some listeners yesterday by joking that Johnson Beharry was a hero soldier so would not be voted off even if he “dumped in a bucket and handed it to some-one in the crowd”.

Out! Cricketer Dominic Cork is out of the game after celebrities vote to save Jeff Brazier on Dancing On Ice

He may score on the cricket field, but England batsman Dominic Cork's skating wasn't enough to keep him on Dancing On Ice tonight.

In a cruel twist, his fellow celebrity contestants on were asked to choose between the 39-year-old and TV presenter Jeff Brazier when both ended up in the bottom two.

Jeff and Dominic ended up in the skate-off after receiving the lowest amount of votes from the public, but this time it was the contestants instead of the judging panel who decided who to save.

Dancing On Ice: The J Word
By Claire Murphy

J is for Jennifer, cruelly out of the competition even though she was improving and wearing the tiniest outfits week after week. Mums won't know her, dads won't be allowed to vote for her, Hollyoaks fans probably think this was too lame to watch.

J is for also for journey: the must-have quality that keeps a less able contestant in. Which is why to a certain extent Jeff will do pretty well, as he has a lot of public support after Jade's death, and why Johson (another J) stays, while better skaters are in the bottom two. As the song nearly says, Don't Worry, Beharry.

J is for Jason, queen of the ice panel, who ought to learn how to apologise without making a situation worse. It's also for jugular, where he strikes, often unnecessarily. When Karen rose out of her seat in her skyscraper gold heels to confront him, it was like watching the campest-ever episode of Jeremy Kyle.

So what if it's written into Jason's contract to play Mr Nasty? That really isn't enough justification for this jarring routine. As Nicky Slater could remind him, J is also for jobcentre.
