Dancing On Ice celebs stricken by tummy bug

Dancing On Ice contestants have been forced to miss training for the ice dance contest after a stomach bug hit the show.

Show favourite Sam Attwater and Loose Woman Denise Welch are believed to have been hit hard by the virus.

Denise's partner Matt Evers told The People that Welch had been forced to miss out on some training sessions earlier this week.

He said: "Denise has had an upset tummy all week. She had to make some quick exits during training."

I do hope Jason Gardiner is sacked, we need to see him and any other provocative presenters shown the door marked exit. If they have to resort to their obnoxious, nasty selves to get cheap laughs [at someone else's expense] and are incapable of making a constructive criticism then they should not be on a judging panel, present a show on TV/Radio or spout their verbal diarrhea in print. :8o:

Jason Gardiner is pointless and passé

Ah, the Telegraph finance blog. Just the place for a post on the most pressing media issue of the moment: why haven’t ITV fired nasty judge Jason Gardiner from Dancing on Ice?

I have written about this before.

That was in January last year, when Gardiner said of celebrity participant Sharron Davies – who had skated in a brown costume – that she looked ‘like faecal matter that won’t flush’. To my mind, that was genuinely offensive enough to get any commentator fired.

But no. ITV have remained loyal to Gardiner, no doubt relishing the press coverage that he brings to the show, both positive and negative. I gather also that he ‘tests well’ among audience focus groups. Phillip Schofield, Dancing on Ice’s presenter, has also defended Gardiner’s right to make his spiky comments.

Until now. Even Schofield has said that Gardiner put ‘more than a foot over the line’ with his comments during Sunday’s show about Karen Barber. Schofield still doesn’t think that Gardiner should be fired, saying – legitimately – that viewers these days too readily call for people’s heads at the first sign of controversy.

He has apologised but told pals: “It’s not my problem if some people don’t like to hear the truth. Everyone should get over it.”

Viewer/reader/listeners love a bitch when the bitching is about someone else - not so much if the bitching was aimed at them, me thinks. :-?

Dancing On Ice Movie

Dancing On Ice competitor Johnson Beharry's life is to be turned into a movie. The Victoria Cross winner is in talks with film producers, according to reports.

Caribbean-born Johnson, 31, said they were looking for an actor to play him - with Asian Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel a leading candidate. Johnson told TV Biz: "There is serious talk about a movie. I've had several approaches.

"There is talk the kid from Slumdog Millionaire could play me. I am going to stand back and let them decide what will work.

"I would be excited if it tells my story. It is about raising awareness for injured people - and it is mainly young people who get injured. I visit a lot of them to try to inspire them and say, 'Look what I have achieved'."

The serviceman, of 1st Battalion, the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, suffered severe injuries in two attacks in Iraq in 2004. He remembers the first in May that saw him rescue colleagues after the armoured vehicle he was driving was hit by rocket-propelled grenades.

Johnson also wants to visit troops in Afghanistan to make a documentary.

Comedy Dave Vitty upset to leave Dancing on Ice

'Comedy' Dave Vitty was voted off 'Dancing on Ice' last night (13.02.11) after losing the skate off to Kerry Katona.

The DJ - who is BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles' sidekick - and professional skater Frankie Poultney lost in the skate off to Kerry Katona and her partner Daniel Whiston after receiving only one out of a possible three votes from the judges.

Dave said: "I'm gutted, but I know I'm not one of the best skaters in the competition. Being on 'Dancing on Ice' has been an absolute privilege. Frankie has been the best partner I could have hoped for."

Head coach Karen Barber paid tribute to Dave's dedication to the show - though she admitted he wasn't ever going to be the best performer.

She said: "He does put his heart and soul into it, but he does struggle with any co-ordination."

Speaking on their breakfast show this morning (14.02.11) Chris insisted he will no longer watch now his pal has been voted off.

He said: "There is no point watching it anymore to be honest."

Kerry - who was bottom of the leaderboard - admitted before the dance off that she wasn't surprised to find herself there.

She explained: "The judges are absolutely right I'm nowhere near as good as that lot. But I am really enjoying myself and I have to say thank you to the public for getting me a far as I have."

Sam Attwater and Brianne Delcourt topped the leader board again alongside Laura Hamilton and Colin Ratushniak.
