How To Command A Nuclear SubSky, Ch531 Monday 14 March at 5pm and 9pm
Tuesday 15 March at 5pm and 9pm
Wednesaday 16 March at 5pm and 9pm
Thursday 17 March at 5pm and 9pm Want to become a submarine captain? Great job, good pay, prestige, heroism, never a
dull moment… but first you must pass the interview. It’s a six month Apprentice-style job interview from Hell, culminating in four weeks of intense, non-stop naval warfare inside a nuclear attack submarine in the treacherous inshore waters of Western Scotland.
Survive a day and night barrage of simulated attacks; keep your sub and your men safe in extreme adversity; endure 20 hour days, sleep deprivation and round the clock monitoring and assessment. Survive all this and you’ll be given the command of your own nuclear submarine, a huge responsibility. Fail and you’ve not only lost the job, your entire naval career is over.
We take you deep inside the secret world of nuclear submarines and the intense interviews and training. Whether carrying long range nuclear missiles or covertly patrolling the seas as “hunter-killers”, these little understood machines are the most lethal weapons on the planet.
We follow the multinational NATO task-force, making or breaking them including France, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands and Turkey - armed with Aircraft Carriers, Nimrod Jets, Helicopters, Destroyers, Frigates and Special Forces, all pushing our candidates to their limits in an extraordinary range of extremely dangerous scenarios.
From deathly shallow water and live weapons to intentional near collisions with surface ships, in four weeks the submariners and sailors involved will be pushing far deeper into the danger zone than most will experience in a lifetime.
This is the world’s toughest officer training course, because it really is… DO OR DIE.
