Simon Cowell 'picks Island Def Jam boss L.A. Reid to join him on American X Factor panel'

With less than two weeks to go before the first round of auditions, the American X Factor panel has gained another judge.

Simon Cowell is said to have appointed Island Def Jam chairman Antonio 'L.A.' Reid to be one of the four judges.

The 54-year-old record executive and music producer has helped launch the careers of Mariah Carey, Pink, Rihanna, Kanye West and Justin Bieber.

Nicki Minaj In Talks To Become An X-Factor Host

Nicki Minaj is in talks with Simon Cowell about becoming a judge on Cowell's upcoming Fox talent show The X Factor, according to the New York Post. Minaj would join confirmed judge and former Def Jam bigwig L.A. Reid. A rep for the series called the report "early speculation." Though semi-big names like Tommy Mottola and Jessica Simpson have been thrown around as other possible judges for X-Factor, Minaj, an artist who's currently at the top of her game (and touring with Lil Wayne!) would be a major get for the show.
