Oh what a shame you didn't get it. That would have been interesting.

Blimey! So you have 2 weeks holiday now do you and you've done a whole term? Things are different up in Scotland. I'm not very well up on school procedures these days, but I think that half term here is for one week round about 25th October usually.

Yeah they do call it "Term 1" then from Oct to Christmas is "Term 2" - they are both just 8 week terms and then the other two after Christmas are 11-13 weeks or something with Easter in the middle. Some parts of Scotland just get one week but we get two, the reason being traditionally at this time of year the kids used to spend the holidays pulling tatties out the ground! The parts that don't get the extra week here make it up in the summer where they get 7 weeks and we get 6.

Had a long ride out on the motorbike today ,though i had to return part way through to add an extra thin pair of gloves under the main ones as my fingers were starting to go numb with the cold. I have a thin thinsolate (?) pair that I wear for skating that are very warm considering their thinkness.

Have now ordered a good pair of multi-layer gloves that should solve the problem.

Waiting for some slightly warmer nights to remove the risk of ice in the mornings before using the bike for work again.

Today I did some electrical modifications on the bike.
The auxillary add-ons are now fed correctly. EG the switched line from the ignition switches a relay which supplies power to a 4-way fuse box.
So far it feeds a multi-LED running light on the front of the bike and powers a power supply that feeds my radio which uses a GPS to send positional reports.
If I make it back through a station relaying to the Internet I should appear Here. But as activity has died away over the last couple of years I've got to either get my 5Watts heard in Sandy (Beds) ,or Royston (Herts). My own station used to loose me about 2 miles out from home ,though as I have an external aerial this time it might do better this time.

At least connected this way if I forget to turn the radio off it's only it's internal battery that goes flat and not the bikes one.

Today I was at a First Aid course and someone mentioned they'd seen something about BB coming back... reminded me how long it is since I was last here. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi ,Jezi :D

Today I replaced the router on my network and regained full speed again.

Originally I have two cable routers supplying the ports but had problems sharing the printer and connecting between the computers on the different routers.

I then bought a Netgear FVS318 industrial looking router cheap off eBay which had the 8 ports I needed and added a TP-Link Wireless point for the wireless devices but the download speed dropped to 500 - 600K per second which for a 10M Virginmedia set-up is slow.

So I bought a TP-Link TL-R860 8 port router off eBay new for under £25 and the download speed is back around 1M per second. And used the Wireless Point again.

Not all hardware are equal ,given these are both rated at 100Mbps.

I've been busy, busy, busy unfortunately. There are not enough hours in a day! I hope your teaching is going well.

Today I bought 5 types of Strawberry plants (65) .Then a trip to Focus where I bought lots of their 'Pay Less' multipurpose compost and at £2.99 for 50 Litres is good value.

So back home a 6ft x 4ft area that I'd prepared for another job was filled in with the compost and after 6 bags (300L) it is now prepared ready for when the plants arrive.

We should have fruit from early June. We plan to have two areas with the Plants ,then a few bags plus a couple of troughs.

We lost quite a lot of the older plants over the Winter plus the older plants were rather old and you should replace Strawberry plants every 3 years for the best fruit.

And July and later with the earlys on their second crop.

I took the last of the good ones from the troughs and planted them into a small border today.

But the 1st 25 have arrived already which is a little over 24 hours from ordering.

We had 4 troughs before ,well there like giant seed trays which you can put a growbag in ,with this amount. They save quite a bit of money once they start producing with fresh fruit for 2 - 3 months.
