Auditions for the first series of 'Big Brother' on Channel 5 have opened up online.

The reality TV show - which finished a 10-year run on Channel 4 in 2010 before being picked up by Channel 5 - has opened online auditions to search for a group of people who are keen to enter the fly-on-the-wall series.

Channel 5 director of programmes Jeff Ford said: "Channel 5 will bring a completely fresh perspective to the 'Big Brother' phenomenon and, by inviting people to apply for the show online, we hope to assemble the most entertaining and captivating house yet.

"We're looking forward to seeing the fully array of applications, either online or in person."

Details of face-to-face auditions for the show - which will have a celebrity version prior to heading over to a public variant this summer - are to be released in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Emma Willis has revealed she would love to host the show following the departure of Davina McCall, although she does think she would get criticised for it.

She added: "That would be the one thing I would c**p my pants over. Nobody wants to follow Davina and I'm under no illusion that I would probably get a pasting for it, but what can you do."

Emma also claims troubled actor Charlie Sheen would be her perfect housemate because people would take him on and confront him.

She told Star magazine: "I was reading they want Charlie Sheen. He would be amazing, I love Charlie.

"You kind of want an elegant, witty, hot chick to take him on. Someone who is not going to take the bait. But who is that woman?"

But if you are not lucky enough to win you can still try to become a housemate at a series of auditions open to everyone.

Channel 5 bosses revealed yesterday that they will take over two of Britain’s biggest football stadiums for four days of auditions.

It means BB producers will be able to select a dozen or so housemates from up to 500,000 contenders.

The show will hit the road next month when it visits Old Trafford, home of Premier League champions Manchester United.

Anyone who fancies being the Big Brother 12 champion can try their luck in front of the show’s casting crew on June 10 and 11.

Then the party hits London as BB takes over Arsenal’s when the party hits London as BB takes over Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on June 18 and 19.

Doors will open at 8.30am for fans eager to follow Josie Gibson, 26, and Brian Belo, 23, as Big Brother champs.

TV execs will pick the best from thousands of wannabes, including some of the most outrageous people in Britain.

Big Brother auditions to take place at Old Trafford and Emirates next month

The online application process has already begun, but those wanting to impress the show's bosses in person can get down to Man U's stadium on Friday June 10 and Saturday 11 June or London's Emirates on Saturday June 18 and Sunday June 19.

Potential contestants must be over 18 and legal residents of the UK or Ireland, and the show's website tells applicants to 'dress to impress!'

Gavin Henderson, creative director of Big Brother, said: 'We are on the hunt for housemates that will make this an outrageously fun and unforgettable series of Big Brother. You know where to be and when – we're coming to get you.'

New Big Brother snubs Scottish entrants?

Open auditions for the new series of Big Brother have been announced to take place next month – but it seems Scotland has been snubbed from the programme-maker’s schedule.

Despite some of the most memorable contestants coming from north of the border, so far no dates have been announced for Scottish auditions at bigbrotherauditions.com.

Instead the first round of auditions will occur on June 10 and June 11 at Old Trafford in Greater Manchester, then at June 18 and June 19 at the Emirates Stadium in London.

The news will come as a shock. Some of the previous Scots to star include outspoken Ayrshire man Mikey Hughes, the first ever blind contestant to make it onto BB, and wholesome series four winner Cameron Stout.

Then there was the vain and often scantily clad Jason Cowan, and pretty Shell Jubin, who shocked the nation by mowing the lawn in nothing more than a scarf. (Check out our article on the best of the BB Scottish contestants.)

For those thinking of travelling to England to try and take part (people can also apply online), the auditions start at 8.30am and finish at 6pm on all four days, with applicants being asked to bring a form of photo identification with them.

Prospective contestants must have a legal right to live in the UK or Ireland and be aged 18 or over by July 31, 2011. It is not necessary to complete the online application form in order to attend the open auditions, although people who have already applied online will not be barred from attending face-to-face auditions.

Loads of 'WAGs' have auditioned for Big Brother

Scores of fame-seeking wannabes have been auditioning for a place in the new series of Big Brother.

Channel 5 bosses told a tabloid newspaper that they have been impressed by the calibre of hopefuls who have put themselves forward for a place on the iconic reality series.

Executive producer Gavin Henderson told the Daily Star: "We have had some amazing auditionees so far.

"There have been some who have told us that they'd like to be WAGs.

"They seem to think that becoming a housemate on Big Brother is a way to get a footballer as a boyfriend.
