Former Big Brother contestant Mario Marconi has complained he was assaulted at the Miss Manchester beauty contest.The body builder and his partner Lisa Appleton – who he proposed to during their time on series nine of the Channel 4 reality show - were among the minor celebrities who attended the event at Panacea in Alderley Edge on Thursday night.
But the evening didn't prove to be as enjoyable as the couple had hoped and Mario ended up phoning the police, reports the Manchester Evening News.
It is not clear exactly why Mario - real name Shaun Astbury - made the call, but it is rumoured he was involved in a dispute with door staff at the upmarket restaurant.
Cheshire Police confirmed they were investigating a complaint from a 45-year-old man about a minor assault, but that the individual was not injured.
