As proof that age is no barrier to beauty, Dame Helen Mirren has been voted ‘Body of the Year’ ahead of stiff competition from Kelly Brook and Cheryl Cole.Storming ahead of Elle ‘The Body’ Macpherson with 10.6%, Dame Mirren garnered 17.5% of the vote.
Gym chain LA Fitness commissioned a survey to see who would win out as the male and female bodies of the year. 2,000 people were polled and the results brought Dame Mirren out on top.
“It’s great to see the public celebrating bodies of all shapes and sizes, and proving that you really can look fabulous over 40 and 50,” said Tony Orme, Marketing Director of LA Fitness.
At 66 years old, Dame Mirren also beat Jennifer Lopez and new royal pin up, Pippa Middleton.
David Beckham topped the men’s ‘Body of The Year’ chart with 21%, followed by Daniel Craig and Johnny Depp in third place.
Dame Helen is known for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen. She has countless stage, film and TV accolades, including an Academy Award, four SAG Awards, four BAFTAs, three Golden Globes, four Emmy Awards and two Cannes Film Festival Awards.
