Big Brother: Live Launch Friday, 9th September Channel 5 9:30pm - 11pm
Last night, the first celebrity winner of the newly resurrected reality behemoth was crowned. Less than 24 hours later, members of the public hoping to be recycled into next year’s Celebrity Big Brother contenders enter the house. And in January, after three months of this, CBB will be back again.
Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond has breathed new life into the misunderstood monster, and with good reason. The antics of the housemates provide copious fodder for Desmond’s publishing outlets, and CBB launch night is already among Channel 5’s most watched programmes of all time. In many ways, fans will be even more fascinated to see tonight’s unknowns enter the house, which could mean a record breaker for Mr Desmond, and will require “new Davina” Brian Dowling to be on top autocue-reading form.
New series. With the celebrity version out of the way, Brian Dowling kicks off the 12th series of the classic incarnation, spending the next 90 minutes introducing the fame-seeking individuals who have been chosen to spend 10 weeks invading the nation's living rooms - for the select few that last that long, at least.
