Big Brother’s Channel 5 debut was watched by just 2.6million people as the reality show haemorrhaged viewers following Paddy Doherty’s Celebrity Big Brother win.

They had very low figures for the CBB final show as well.

BB always had hardcore viewers who stuck with it through thick and thin, but they where the ones that watched it at all hours of night and day.. they had it on in the back ground while they ironed or worked etc but now its just an entertainment show less fun than coach trip or come dine as a pre recorded package I would say its had it.

C5 never seem to learn, they had the Farm which was doing ok ratings wise untill they canceled the live feed on the last series then no one watched .. didnt help they had a cast of nobodys thou ..Rebbeka Loose , Paul Daniels and a over large porn star.

I just wish they would reconsider and stream it somewhere, they clearly do have a large team there 24/7 , why not air it on 5* for a few hours late night? just after Emma Willis has annoyed us for an hour.

They could be making money charging for the live stream but they are not interested in the BB social experiment any more because they are selling it to the teenagers on the social media networks now.

I wish all us die-hard fans would just cop on and stop watching it altogether - make a stand once and for all, stop begging them for the live feed and let them start begging us to come back.
The show is dying a death on most of the forums - the main-stream media are not interested in it any more - SCD and DWTS are on and as you said Stinkey, Coach Trip and Come Dine are just two reality tv shows to replace BB.

Best idea I have heard Madeline but I doubt if they care as it is just a money making exercise, and Enditol doesn't seem to give a hoot.

Just for the record I watched the village idiot and the trainee slapper entering the house and hit the OFF switch.

I will continue to post the odd news article but there are not a many of them around so I will be able to concentrate on my MOD sites.

I know in years past I (and many others too) have teased a story out of the live feeds and reported the goings-on on forums like this. Soon others are spreading the news and by the following day the 'paid gossips' were reheating it all in their newspaper columns. Not bad considering there was no Facebook/Twitter back then. It was this effect that did more to drive the audience than any other I believe.

Later, Ch4 cottoned on and began to 'feed' their scripts to the press before transmission. This not only cut out the middleman but they were essentially manufacturing the stories for publicity instead of for us. Bad and very bad!

Looks like Ch5 has gone one further. Shame really.

Big Brother Viewers

The latest series of Big Brother is pulling in little over half of the audience for its final run on Channel 4.

Average audiences for the Channel 5 version of the show since it launched on Friday amount to 1.7 million, figures show.

It compares with an an average of 3.2 million who watched the first five episodes of the programme for its swansong series on C4 in 2010.

The figures are almost 47% down on last year’s series, which began in May rather than August.

I'm afraid I was too underwhelmed by the Celeb version to even look at the people going into the house. I've not seen a second of it, and I've no plans to start watching. I used to enjoy discussing the live feed on the forums, and enjoyed it when there was a big community of fans talking about it. Sad that it's come to this, really. :-(

Without the live-feed coverage we might as well be watching a soap/documentary or movie. One of the producers has said it is no longer BB it is an entertainment show - fair enough, there is an audience who will follow it on the social media networks to pass the time on a bus,tube/train journey but don't have the BB production and NAME then, just be done with it and call it the 18 -30 Big Load of Sh*th House!

 You do have a way with words Maddy

Must say I agree with you and like Jo I will not be watching, without the live feeds there is nothing to comment about

Even over on DS most of the regulars have moved on which is sad. :-(

In answer to all my former critics who berated me for spending hours watching the live feed, often until the sun came up, as of this series I HAVE got a life... I've not watched a minute of this one, nor have I bothered with any stories or caption corner.

C5 have managed to put many former addicts off - it's a bit like taking the weekly episodes of Corrie and sending out one tweet of 160 characters, expecting everyone to be happy with that.

BB has always been badly edited to favour certain HM's and sway the voting habits of those who only watch the nightly updates. C5's website is always behind, especially the 'on demand' service.

Quote:
One of the producers has said it is no longer BB it is an entertainment show

to C5/Endemol: In which case, call it something else and don't try fobbing real fans off with something that we know isn't BB !

For real BB fans it is an embarrassment to say you watch this entertainment show they call Big Brother, let them try and maintain a following on the social media networks, I give it a week before they realize they had better give more TV coverage.

I am still watching and am quite enjoying it but once you watch the HL show it feels like something is missing as normally you'd be switching over to the LF.

Can of feels like we only have half a show.

Big Brother's Bit on the Radio has been the most entertaining thing since the show came back. They spend a lot of time slating the HMs and Channel 5 which is always amusing

2nd most entertaining - seeing how low the BB ratings will plummet before the series ends. All time low of under a million viewers for a show swiftly followed up by an all time low audience share (4%) is an utter disaster for what C5 wanted to achieve.
