The X Factor loses in face off with Strictly Come Dancing

The hunt for the X Factor's missing millions goes on, after the ITV1 show once again lost out in its brief head-to-head with BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday.

The main Saturday night edition of the X Factor had 9.8 million viewers, a 38% share, between 8pm and 9.55pm, more than 2 million viewers down on the 12.01 million who tuned in at the same stage of the series last year.

In the 15 minutes when it went head-to-head with Strictly Come Dancing, between 8pm and 8.15pm, the Simon Cowell show averaged 8.3 million against Bruce Forsyth's 9.5 million.
