Eurovision For Russell Grant?

Russell Grant has been approached to represent Malta in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, according to reports.

The TV astrologer has been contacted by representatives from the Mediterranean island who have asked him if he wants to perform the country’s entry in 2012.

They want him to sing and then during his live performance dance with Flavia Cacace, his partner from Strictly Come Dancing.

Although Russell is reportedly flattered by the offer he intends to decline because he has ambitions of representing the UK at next year’s competition.

Strictly Come Dancing singer Hayley Sanderson has written a track for Russell and preliminary discussions have been held with the BBC – who broadcast the competition - to find out if he can be put forward as a possible representative.

There must be other acts in Ireland?

With a population of over 4.8million, you'd think Ireland would have a wealth of talent singers.

Amazingly, the country has voted for Dublin twins Jedward to represent them at Eurovision for the second time in a row.

   Other countries keep getting more and more modern each year and we are going backwards in time! Most English people won't even know him, let alone voters in other countries. He says that he has toured a lot in the other countries and hopes that they remember him. 1. I wonder how long ago that was??? and 2. I doubt they will be the sort of people who vote in Eurovision. I would think the majority of voters would be youngsters and no way will they vote for someone of his age!

He will need to have an exceptional song to stand any chance at all. The Sun article says "hope he does better than last year's UK entry Blue. They finished in a lowly 11th place." I don't think that 11th place was lowly. It wasn't bad at all, considering our recent record at Eurovision.

I think that the sort of countries that will like him, are the ones who always vote for each other, so even if they do like him, we wouldn't get their vote anyway.

The songwriters are good, so maybe they can come up with a good song for him (it will need to be exceptional though). I suppose he was a good singer in his time (well not my kind of thing - I never have liked him much), but I wonder if he still is? I know he is currently working on a new album, but I wonder when he last performed live?

I know sometimes these type of singers win, but that's only because they are from countries that always vote for each other no matter what.

Jedward's mum in love with their Eurovision rival

MOTHER of the hair-raising Jedward twins will face divided loyalties on the night of the Eurovision contest.

Susanna Grimes is a huge fan of golden oldie perma-tanned heartthrob Engelbert Humperdinck, who will represent Britain this year.

Eurovision – has the BBC finally given up?

---------- Image

The decision to have septuagenarian Engelbert Humperdinck represent the UK at Eurovision 2012 has to be one of the bolder picks of recent years and certainly represents a break from the ‘young and pretty’ of recent years.

It may yet prove to be an inspired choice but is far more likely to end in tears. Humperdinck does apparently have a fan base in Eastern Europe – though how many of these will be watching is questionable – and there’s always the possibility of a novelty vote from somewhere and an ex-pat / holiday vote from Spain or Ireland.
