BRITAINS Got Talent boss Simon Cowell told staff to work harder in their war with The Voice, after losing the ratings battle for the second Saturday in a row.

Cowell and his senior colleagues had hoped BBCs The Voice featuring mentors Jessie J, Will.i.am, Danny ODonoghue and Sir Tom Jones would lose momentum after its first week on screen.

But the rival singing contest remained an {impressive 2.1million ahead in their crucial clash between 8pm when BGT started and 8.20pm when The Voice finished.

And insiders say Cowell is fiercely determined to close the gap by the time The Voice finishes its blind auditions phase.
