Day 30: The mutual appreciation society
Luke A, Lauren and Adam have stayed up in the garden smoking cigs and having an in-depth chinwag about rule-breaking and their positions in the House.
The Turf Wars task is definitely affecting the mood in the House, and it's only the second day. "I feel like I'm in a house of inept, arrogant, deluded fools" Luke A vented, "we can't afford to break the rules, it's the coward's way out" he continued.
Even though they all agreed that no-one can tell you what to do, how to act, or how to react, they're now realising that this is the very essence of the game. Big Brother decides what housemates need to do to progress. And you the viewing public have the ultimate say in whether the housemates stay or go. In a sense, you're no longer "your own person". It's about survival of the fittest, the most cunning, and the most resilient.
Luke A, Lauren and Adam believe Big Brother wants them to break the rules, and to have more confrontations: "We suck because we're not biting" Adam said. Adam admitted that he is more comfortable confronting people in the real world, as opposed to the House. It seems that it's a real war of words.
Luke A is paranoid about the other housemates whispering and them "walking all over us", while also pointing out that he, Adam and Lauren have done really well to make it this far in the competition. We wonder if he's talking about himself rather than for the group? He mentioned a few occasions when he laughed at the gang's jokes with the aim to "blend in", but he's stopped that now. They're worried they will be labelled 'The Whingers' after tonight. Adam added, "We're realistically the odd ones out – we're all different fundamentally, physically, age-wise". Can they embrace this, or will it hinder their performance and progress?
In-keeping with the theme of bitchery this evening, they still managed to fit in a few swipes at the other housemates: "Sara without makeup? No –" Adam said. Ouch!
These three housemates have formed a tight bond over the course of the evening: exchanging flattering observations about each other and drawing a proverbial line in the sand. Maybe this existential chat is just what they need to up the ante?
We wonder if this new quasi-alliance will stand the test of time, or even through 'til tomorrow. We'll be watching. Check back for more updates.
