Former Big Brother star Makosi Musambasi’s declaration of her allegiance to President Robert Mugabe has been dismissed as a mere ploy to safeguard her stay in the countryMakosi made a dramatic return to Zimbabwe after leaving the country 13 years ago for the United Kingdom. Her sudden desire to meet Mugabe has come under scrutiny and been dismissed as a frail attempt to solicit the trust and protection of Zanu (PF) stalwarts.
During her stay in the UK, before she was deported, Makosi made endless negative comments about Zimbabwe and its culture. But she denied all the published articles in which she attacked Mugabe.
Said Makosi, “You read a lot of rubbish that I ever said anything bad about Mugabe. I only spoke about this intolerant group of people who cry human rights but would not recognise them even if they hit them square in the face.”
Arnold Mazvira, a social commentator said, “Makosi is trying to be smart for nothing here. It’s a fact that she never wanted to be in Zimbabwe in the first place. She criticized her home country and its leadership left right and centre when she was in the UK. Also take note that her stay here is because she was deported, it’s not by choice. She does not feel safe from the people she used to criticize and she tries to solicit for their trust by praising them. It’s an old trick done by all Zanu (PF) sympathizers.”
Mazvira’s sentiments were echoed by various analysts. “She is insulting the intelligence of every Zimbabwean including Mugabe whom she claims she dreams to meet. We all know it’s not true.
“Her praises are a ‘protection fee’ in case people might want to harass her from all the nasty things she used to say about Zimbabweans,” said Steven Murefu.
Makosi has been spotted wearing Zanu (PF) regalia with Mugabe’s image and signature in a bid to convince the octogenarian leader to meet her.
