BIG Brother fanatics will be pleased to know their favourite show will be back on screen on May26.

DStv channels 197 and 198 will be the home of the reality show for 91 days and will see 28 contestants compete for $300000 (about R2775000).

Season 8 of Big Brother Africa has been named The Chase and will see the contestants from 14 countries competing against each other under Biggies' watchful eye.

Nigerian TV and radio personality IK Osakioduwa will be back as the host but the contestants will only be announced when the show starts.

South Africa's Keagan Petersen won the last edition of Big Brother Africa and the show not only made him a millionaire but also a household name.

"This season audiences can expect a show encompassing suspense, emotions, drama, fun, excitement and quite possibly, as we have seen in previous seasons, a little romance," said M-Met Africa managing director Biola Alabi.

Big Brother Africa Chase begins

The walls in the Big Brother Africa (BBA) final audition room this season not only had ears but mouths as well. They whispered to the local media that this year, one representative would be picked from our basketball courts and the other, from the radio and TV airwaves.

Unlike previous launches where the audience calmly applauded our representatives and listened to what they had to offer, the viewers this time boisterously came alive from shock and excitement, when they came on stage.

Big Brother Africa: The good, the bad, the ugly

It is billed to be cool. Actually, it is cool; it should be – depending on your vantage point. A show that gets all of Africa clamouring to catch a glimpse of, mainly in anticipation of what romances the contestant housemates might get up to, among other attractions, and distractions.

Meanwhile, as some are glued onto their screens not wanting to miss a moment, others, especially those with very strict religious attachments, won’t be caught dead with their tele tuned into a Big Brother channel.

Instead, the three months this show screens are spent with these moralists up in arms, criticizing the show for contributing to what they refer to as societal moral degeneration.

Bevy of beauties make up BBA

THE chances of romance in the Big Brother Africa house, this season, seems high judging by the bevy of beauties contesting.

The eighth season of Big Brother Africa kicked off on Sunday and the 28 house mates, who are competing for almost R3-million, were unveiled to the continent.

One glaring aspect was that the majority of the female house mates are models or former beauty queens.

Many of them are single and viewers can expect a love-filled Big Brother Africa house.

The flames of love seem to have been stoked from the beginning, as the female contestants were asked to pick a male contestant based, just by the shape of their lips, from pictures .

The men, each girl chose, would escort them into the house and also be their house mate.

Nigerian television personality IK Osakioduwa, made a comeback as the show's host.

Osakioduwa said there will be a weekly competition for the most romantic grand gesture by the "couples".

Selly from Ghana is an actress.

Meanwhile, Huddah from Kenya, Maria from Namibia and Beverley who hails from Nigeria, are models.

Koketso Modiba, a Miss South Africa 2012 top 12 finalist, features as one of the many beauties in the house.

The contestants have been divided into two houses, namely the Diamond and Ruby houses.
