New Black Sabbath Album Set To Top The Charts

After waiting almost half a century, rockers Black Sabbath could be about to top the charts again with their long-awaited new album.

The album, titled 13, was released on Monday and if it takes the top spot on the charts it will break the record for the longest gap between chart-topping releases by British artists.

Black Sabbath first topped the UK's album chart in September 1970 with their second album Paranoid.

The 43-year-long wait would beat the record set by Rod Stewart, who had to wait 34 years for number one success between Volume 1 of his Greatest Hits, which came out in 1979, and this year's album Time.

The new Black Sabbath album reunites original band members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler for the first time in 35 years.

The band managed to complete the album despite guitarist Iommi being treated for cancer during its recording.

Black Sabbath is touring the UK in December, including a homecoming show at Birmingham's LG Arena.
