THIS WEEK'S SHOPPING TASK GOING IN: 5,4,3,2,1

For this week’s shopping task, housemates face a countdown of 5 tasks. The tasks descend in order from 5 down to 1, with each task completed by that number of housemates. Tasks 5 to 2 will each count towards a percentage of the shopping, however it all comes down to the final task, number 1, in a big dramatic moment. One housemate must complete one final challenge to win the shopping that they have accumulated. Everything rides on one housemate’s single attempt to complete a single challenge under high pressure.

HOW IT WORKS

The house is set with a large unit containing 5 light up numbers, from 5 to 1. When a task begins, the number will begin flashing, indicating that the task is about to take place alongside a 5,4,3,2,1 countdown which will indicate that housemates must gather in the living area. Once gathered, Big Brother will ask housemates to decide who will be playing each task by asking them who are the 5 unhealthiest, 4 smartest, 3 most similar and the two that least get along. The housemate who completes the final challenge will be chosen by Big Brother. This will be whoever Big Brother deems the most courageous housemate.

Triggers

Additionally throughout the day a klaxon will sound and Big Brother will announce a mini trigger challenge for particular housemates. These tasks must be completed before the countdown runs out. If housemates fail to complete these challenge they may lose a percentage of the money they have accumulated.

DAY 1

5: Five A Day

The five unhealthiest housemates must bounce their hardest to collect their five a day. Five housemates must work together to collectively fill a container with a mixture of liquids representing the 5 food groups. Housemates are sat under a tank with a bowl attached to their heads. Under them is another tank filled with liquid which represents food from one of the 5 food groups. There is a pipe leading up to the tank. They must bounce up and down to pump the liquid through the pipe and into the tank above them. Once the tank is full enough it will tip over the housemate, and they must ensure that they collect enough of it using the bowls on their heads. They then must quickly run and transfer the liquid into the container and return to their tank and pump again until the large container is full.

4: Four Letter Word

Four of the smartest housemates will play a game called 4 Letter Word. In the garden are giant letter costumes, each with a letter on the front and a letter on the back. The housemates will be played a series of housemates’ sound bites, and each time a four-letter word is beeped out. The four housemates must accurately guess what word was originally used in the quote, wear the correct letters and stand in position within 25 seconds in order to pass their part of the task. The following quotes will be played out:

1. DEXTER: “I’d **** Wolfy’s armpit for a steak”

2. GINA: “A lot of people are definitely ****”

3. JACK: “I do still think there’s another **** in here”

4. DAN ABOUT CALUM: “Pretty much everyone has had a down moment and he’s always just so ****”

5. DAN TO DEXTER “You’re not really **** are you?”

TASK RESOLVE
5,4,3,2,1 DAY 1

Yesterday housemates faced their first two tasks in 5,4,3,2,1.

Yesterday morning, the housemates decided that Sophie, Jack, Joe, Wolfy and Hazel were the unhealthiest housemates who would play 5 A Day. However the 5 unhealthiest housemates failed to collect enough liquid and therefore did not win any percentage of the shopping budget.

Yesterday afternoon housemates selected Dan, Jackie Callum and Joe as their smartest housemates to play 4 Letter Word. Housemates successfully guessed three of the five missing words and therefore won 30% of the shopping budget. The results were as follows:

QUOTE

RESULT

DEXTER: “I’d LICK Wolfy’s armpit for a steak”

CORRECT

GINA: “A lot of people are definitely FAKE”

CORRECT

JACK: “I do still think there’s another MOLE in here”

CORRECT

DAN ABOUT CALUM: “Pretty much everyone has had a down moment and he’s always just so NICE”

INCORRECT

DAN TO DEXTER “You’re not really RICH are you?”

INCORRECT

Dexter passed his trigger task by putting on 1 item of clothing from each of his housemates. However Gina, Dan, Wolfy and Dexter failed to eat a lemon within 45 seconds. There may be consequences for this which may be revealed today.

BIG BROTHER TASK:
‘5,4,3,2,1 - DAY 2’

TRIGGERS
Throughout the day a klaxon will sound and Big Brother will announce a mini trigger challenge for particular Housemates. These tasks must be completed before the countdown runs out. If Housemates fail to complete these mini tasks they may lose a percentage of the money they have accumulated.

DAY 2

3: THREE OF A KIND

Three similar Housemates must prove that they are indeed three of a kind. Big Brother will set them a quiz in front of the group, featuring questions about their fellow Housemates. Each of these three playing Housemates has a set of playing cards bearing their fellow Housemates’ faces on (including their own). For each question they must consider their answer and give their opinion by showing the card with that Housemate’s face on it. If all three are the same, they will win a point – so it’s not about being honest, it’s about attempting to gauge the majority’s opinion. They must win 5 out of 9 final points in order to pass the task. The rest of the Housemates will be watching from the living room. The Housemates will be asked the following:

Which of the housemates is …

MOST FUN?
MOST EASILY OFFENDED?
MOST LIKELY TO WIN?
LAZIEST?
MOST SELF-OBSESSED?
MOST UNPLEASANT ?
BOSSIEST?
CLEVEREST?
KINDEST?

2: TWO PEAS IN A POD
Two Housemates who do not get along must prove that they can work together to catch giant flying peas. The pair will be given a giant pea pod costume to share, which leaves them with only one free hand each. In the gardens giant peas are fired in the air from a catapult, from all directions. The pair have to work together to manoeuvre in their costume to decide which peas to go for whilst coordinating their free hands to catch them. Unbeknownst to the Housemates some of the peas have ‘gone off’ and will be filled with gunge. These peas will not count towards the total. They must catch 6 amount of peas to pass their part of the task.

1: ONE HIT WONDER
The whole shopping task will climax in one final, tense dramatic moment. One Housemate will be chosen to take part in the last hit of the shopping task. This Housemate is told that they will only have one shot to get it right, or the Housemates will lose all the shopping amassed so far.

This Housemate is told that to win the shopping they must agree to take part in a knife throwing act and become a human target. This is a hoax, and in order to pass the task the Housemate must simply agree to get on the knife throwing wheel. They will pass the task if they get on the wheel and stay on it for the duration of a countdown, which they believe will culminate in a knife being thrown at them. However rather than a knife being thrown when the countdown finishes, pyros will be set off and it will be revealed that the Housemates have passed the task.

In the Garden, a knife thrower and a spinning knife throwing wheel are revealed. The knife thrower is practising with a fake dummy on the target. It would appear he is not the best knife thrower and may have a few near misses. The Housemate must agree to replace the dummy. The Housemate is given forms to fill out, safety briefings, and a full set of believable instructions by our professional ‘knife thrower’.

TASK RESOLVE: 5,4,3,2,1

Yesterday, housemates took part in the last three tasks in 5,4,3,2,1. Housemates decided that Daley, Dexter and Charlie were the three housemates most on the same wavelength and they played Three of A Kind. They matched 4 out of 9 answers and therefore failed to win any percentage of the budget. The results were as follows:

MOST FUN- MATCH
MOST EASILY OFFENDED- FAIL
MOST LIKELY TO WIN- MATCH
LAZIEST-FAIL
MOST SELF-OBSESSED- FAIL
MOST UNPLEASANT - MATCH
BOSSIEST- FAIL
CLEVEREST- MATCH
KINDEST- FAIL

Housemates decided that Dan and Sam were the two housemates who got on the least and they played Two Peas In A Pod. They successfully caught 6 peas and therefore won 30% of the shopping budget.

Finally Big Brother chose Gina as the most courageous housemate to take part in One Hit Wonder. Gina completed her task by having the courage to get on the knife throwers wheel, believing that knives would be thrown at her.

Therefore housemates won 60% of their shopping budget.
