I find that hard to believe, because didn't they have a different format in 2005? It used to be that they were aiming to be Lord Sugar's apprentice, but now it is for him to give them some money to set up their own business. Also, Lord Sugar used to be called Sir Alan (not sure when it was changed, but I don't think it was as early as 2005). I haven't watched this series, but if they are calling him Lord Sugar, then I don't think it would have been filmed in 2005. It is however, filmed several months in advance, so is not being filmed at the time it is on TV.

hmmm.

interesting

now i have this thing in my head that the first series of the aprentice was actually filmed in 1970 or something like that. but hmm, okay... i'll take your word for it- that it was made this year

only thing i'd question is, isn't it possible when they got round to narating it, he called him lord sugar just to stick with the times?. i mean it's possible.... the show may have been filmed back when he was sir alan sugar, but the narator just replaced it with lord for the sake of being with the times, i guess. filmed in 2005 or 1993, if his name changes, then it's relevant that the naration uses his current name

According to Wikipedia The Apprentice started in 2005

It isn't only the narrator who calls him Lord Sugar or Sir Alan though - the candidates do as well. I hardly think they would call back all the candidates & get them to say Lord Sugar every time they said Sir Alan. It would be very difficult to fit it all together properly.

I know the programme is filmed months in advance, because I know of someone who was on there (not me personally, but someone I knew, knew someone on there!). I think it may even be filmed in the Autumn of the year before, because I believe the Final 2 candidates used to work for him for about 6 months before the Final (don't know if they still do), so that may go towards his decision as to who to choose.

Ah I have just read Wikipedia and yes, it is filmed in the Autumn of the year before it is on TV.

Taken from Wikipedia;-

Quote:
Owing to the twelve-week broadcast schedule, the audience is given the impression that the candidates stay for 12 weeks in the house and that there are breaks between tasks. The series is actually filmed in about two months, and the filming schedule means that the tasks are generally performed one after the other.
- I must admit, I didn't realise that.

I did know this bit though:-

Quote:
The candidates' "walk of shame" exit sequences are actually filmed at the beginning of the series, at the same time as the scene in which they are shown entering the headquarters building at the start of the first episode. This explains why the clothes worn by fired candidates in their exit sequences sometimes differ from those worn in the boardroom scene ostensibly filmed only moments earlier. In more noticeable cases, hairstyles have also been different. The post-firing taxi ride merely takes the candidate around the block to allow their taxi interview to be filmed. They are then taken to a local hotel to stay the night and finally leave after packing their belongings from the house
