Worker jailed for seven years after £1.2MILLION Royal Mail scam
Paul Akuda, 64, was sentenced to seven years behind bars after stealing hundreds of customers cheque books that resulted in a £1.2million scam.
The disgraced worker went on the run for two years after giving the stolen chequebooks to a criminal pals who defrauded unsuspecting members of the public out of their money.
Bosses at the Royal Mail central sorting office in Birmingham only clocked on to the scheme when complaints showed a large number of books had not reached their destination.
