Jeremy Clarkson's wife to divorce him after 21 years of marriage' - with a celebration holiday in Majorca

Jeremy Clarkson is being divorced by his wife Frances after 21 years, sources claimed last night.

The couple's relationship has been under growing strain following reports alleging that the millionaire Top Gear presenter had engaged in extra-marital affairs.

The pair have been living apart for three years, but had made efforts to stay together and were pictured together two months ago.

But last month Mrs Clarkson, 52, went on holiday to Majorca with her best friend to toast the end of their marriage, a source said. 'Apparently Francie had a really jolly boozy time because she is finally getting a divorce from Jeremy and she was celebrating that,' the source added.

'All her friends have been waiting for years for her to do it and she finally has.'

Jeremy Clarkson investigated by Ofcom over racist term 'slope' used in Top Gear broadcast

TV watchdog Ofcom is investigating BBC show Top Gear over allegations Jeremy Clarkson used a racist term that could have breached broadcasting guidelines.

One of the show’s producers had to step in and apologise after the remark by Clarkson that led to complaints of racism.

The episode, filmed in Burma and Thailand and shown in March, featured a scene where the motoring show’s stars built a bridge over the River Kwai .

As a south-east Asian man walked over it, Clarkson said: “That is a proud moment, but there’s a slope on it.”

The Ofcom investigation, announced today, will look at whether the clip counted as a breach of content standards.

The word 'slope' is a derogatory term used against south-east Asians.

Somi Guha, an actor who complained to the BBC, said the language used was an example of casual racism and amounted to gross misconduct.

Jeremy Clarkson and Ukip are not mavericks, but the bullying face of the establishment
The discussion about whether Clarkson is personally racist is a sideshow. He is part of a group seeking not only to put a brake on social progress, but to drag us backwards

Jeremy Clarkson 'handed new three-year BBC contract worth £12m' despite anger at n-word controversy

The Top Gear presenter has reportedly been offered a new deal with the corporation that will keep him on the hit show until 2018.

News of his new contract comes after Clarkson faced calls for him to be sacked after he allegedly used the n-word during an un-aired Top Gear outtake.

Clarkson kept his job after meetings with BBC bosses, but was given a 'final warning' and issued an apology in which he 'begged for forgiveness' and said he was 'mortified' at the footage.

'There is no question of Jeremy’s deal not being renewed,' a BBC source told the Sunday People.

'It is being worked on right now. The top executives want him signed up as soon as possible.'
