Live Women's International Football
ENGLAND V GERMANY
BBC Two Sun 23rd Nov 2:45pm - 5pm

Review by: Hannah Shaddock

A record crowd for an England women’s international will watch this Wembley friendly against rivals Germany. 55,000 tickets have been sold for the match – that’s almost 15,000 more than the number who watched England men’s game against Norway in September.

It might not quite match the number who got behind Team GB during the Olympics, but this is the largest crowd ever for an England game, and proof that women’s football is more than a footnote in the history of the national game. The Women’s World Cup is being held in Canada in 2015 – England have qualified, easily. The team conceded just one goal in their entire qualifying campaign, so who knows? Captain Steph Houghton could end almost half a century of hurt.

England v Germany (Kick-off 3.00pm). All the action from the friendly at Wembley Stadium, as the hosts play in front of the largest-ever crowd for a women's England international. Having qualified for next year's World Cup with a perfect record, England now have the chance to test themselves against the nation ranked second in the world, both in this match, and a return fixture to be announced in Germany. Presented by Jacqui Oatley.
