1/4. Surgeon and writer Dr Atul Gawande explores the future of medicine, beginning with a talk on the nature of fallibility in the profession. The doctor reflects on how a life-threatening illness affected his baby son, and offers his view that the profession must address inequalities in resources and expertise and share knowledge both within and between countries. Introduced and chaired by Sue Lawley, recorded in front of an audience at the John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, Massachusetts.
