Meanwhile Jon has been wowing some, if not all, of the housemates with his storytelling and general sci-fi knowledge. He told Gos why he reckoned he had been picked to come into the House. "I know how to communicate, that's why I'm here," he said.

I actually feel quite sorry for Jon. He's so obviously socially inept I can't understand why the 'experts' picked him to be a HM. (Can you imagine if he'd been surrounded by last year's lot?! It would have made the ganging up against Sophie thing look like a picnic!).

Anouska's already started to talk about him behind his back but fortunately (last night anyaway), Tania, Sissy and especially Justine were sticking up for him.

From the ic Wales site.........''BIG Brother bore Jon Tickle nearly sparked a riot in a Welsh pub - by wearing an England shirt and singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot.

In the house dull Jon, 29, has bored fellow housemates to tears with his stories about Star Wars, physics and favourite sandwich fillings.

But today we can reveal a different side to the Tickle Vulcan who caused havoc during a rugby international drinking session when he lived in Cardiff.

Close friend Ben Gest told how Jon had a "hectic social life and loads of friends" while he worked for British Gas in Cardiff. He said: "Once he was in the Walkabout pub in Cardiff for a Wales-England rugby match. "He decided to wear an England jersey and was singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot while we were surrounded by Welsh fans. It got quite hairy and some young Welsh guy threw a cigarette at him and Jon got quite annoyed. But then the guy came over, apologised and said, 'I did it because you're English, not because you're black'.So Jon let him get away with it.''....... Area sales manager Ben, 25, told how Jon is no boring anorak in real-life when he's not trapped in the Big Brother house - and is constantly visiting dozens of friends around the country..........''

The following statement was issued on behalf of the Patent Office.......''Jon Tickle, the boffin in Channel Four’s Big Brother House, is making a terrible mistake in discussing his would-be inventions with his Housemates, and in front of millions of TV viewers. His disclosures are costing him all hope of patent protection for his ideas.

"The first rule of inventing is to keep your idea secret until you have filed for a patent," explains Jeremy Philpott, Marketing Executive at the Patent Office. "Anyone who talks about their invention in public cannot file a valid application afterwards."

Physics graduate Jon has told the Housemates that he wants to invent a toaster with a delayed release for the second slice of toast...''
