Take out Gos and Steph. Send in Jeremy Spake (the bloke from BB1's Airport) and Jimmy Krankie. What's the difference?

But the rumours are started on purpose, many by Endermol people trying to raise the profile of the show as there isn't a JCB big enough.

Many rumours turn out to be true, even if BB didn't think of them in the first place we've seen a good example where 'alanalapin' put a suggestion on here to do 'superheroes'. Lo and behold, this weeks task is... I don't think the gods of BB managed to think that one up all by themselves, they must have had inspiration from somewhere and we know that they have people looking at the fan sites to see what the reaction is to little bits they do let out.

They are doing this to make money, it's a commercial enterprise. Without people getting all excited about every little rumour going around they have a fairly bland programme going out 24/7 - it's needs some sort of build up to get people watching (apart from out and out addicts) and the prospect of a new HM or a celeb going into the house will bring in viewers.

Even the start date for BB4 was subject to a lot of rumour, long before it appeared in TV mags or so on. Media marketing is full of it.

Lets face it - without a lot of the rumours this year, what would we have talked about ?

I wouldn't particularly be excited if a celebrity went in there, unless its Darius of course ;) @^@

Now, putting Brian Dowling back might be a nice idea. :D

aw, he is! bless him. at least he seems quite funny and up for a laugh. damn sight more exciting than Jean Claude Van Damme.

i'd like to see Sissy back in there actually, if the idea of an ex housemate giong back in is to be used.

the Jim Carrey thing can barely be called a rumour as it was some dappy idiot suggesting it on a BBLB phone-in. pile of pants.

surprised Richard Blackwood hasn't been on the phone begging to go in. or maybe he has.

Said it before, saying it again.

Celebrity idea is ridiculous, defeats the whole purpose of BB. If you want to see Darius, watch TOTP, want to see some soap-star, watch the soap.

This is BB - UNKNOWN, average people in a house being seen to deal with a situation living with strangers, other UNKNOWN people, under surveillance. Putting a celebrity in diverts the focus to this person, is only of interest to fans of that celebrity, and makes a sham of the whole BB idea.

Stupid.

i disagree. it shows how these "average" (yeah right. cameron's a freak and tania's a starfcuk) people react to celebs.

and let's face it they've been dull as hell so far.

personally i don't think it's the best idea either - but i don't think it's "stupid" either.

I'm not sure - wouldn't a celeb make it even more introspective as all they would do is ask the celeb questions etc and who wants to see 24/7 Parkinson ??

Exactly.

The point of having no contact with the outside world is what BB is all about. The longer they are there with no idea/contact etc from the outside, the more we get to see how they are in a "normal" state. Of course they know they are in front of cameras, but one cannot keep up complete pretence 24/7 for 60 days. Real personalities get revealed, and this is where BB becomes fascinating. Over time we see people more as they really are.

To introduce a celebrity for a brief period destroys the basis of the program. We'll see even less of the HMs in their "natural" state, all we'll see is how they react to a famous person.

And this will not show us any real authenticity, it will simply be a kind of "bribe" to make viewers tune in to see this celebrity.

Absolute rubbish idea.
