I've never smoked, but always lived around people who do and have no problem with it.

What does worry me a bit is the fact that, nowadays people are well aware of the dangers and yet it doesn't seem to deter them from starting.

My mum always says if she's had known how dangerous it was she would never have began, but you see more and more young people like Tania and Sissy and even Jon, who is supposed to be quite clever, smoking one after another.

It seems the need to smoke is more compelling than the fear fo the dangers.

I believe there must be some substantial monetry gain involved for the government otherwise they would crack down on it a lot more than they do

I think maybe young people don't take much notice of the 'SMOKING KILLS' slogan.....let's face it, nobody thinks they are going to die.
Maybe with them showing more stuff like they effects it can have apart from ultimate death might make them stop starting. I'm sure if it was something that showed on the outside more then it might make more people think twice. I'm sure if it made us obese nobody would do it!
Then again saying that, I still smoke. I gave up before for almost 2 years, but started again when I went back to work....I didn't know what else to do on my tea break!
I only smoke in my kitchen with the back door open though. Even as a smoker I can't stand the smell of nicotine on my soft furnishings, and after a night in a pub I notice it on my hair and clothes when I walk in my door. And I would never dream of smoking in a non-smoker's house.....even if they said I could, I don't feel comfortable.
